Automotive components processed using quenching oil as the cooling medium

Quenching oil is commonly used for the following components and materials:

1. Molds: The production of transmission parts such as crankshafts, connecting rods, and steering knuckles requires the use of molds. These molds are large in size and difficult to harden thoroughly. If the cooling rate is too fast, the workpiece is prone to cracking. Therefore, it is recommended to use fast or ultra-fast quenching oil.

2. Gears: These products typically undergo carburizing heat treatment to improve wear resistance and fatigue resistance. For small and medium-sized gears, deformation and high precision requirements must also be considered, so quenching oil is often used as the cooling medium.

3. Leaf Springs: These components have significant variations in thickness, making them prone to cracking and difficult to harden. Therefore, fast quenching oil is required.

4. Standard Parts: These products are manufactured and produced according to specific standards, typically with uniform specifications and quality requirements.

These products are made from a variety of materials, and most small parts are produced using multi-purpose continuous furnaces, with quenching oil used for cooling. Additionally, small parts made from materials such as bearing steel, high-speed steel, and stainless steel are also produced in multi-purpose furnaces and use multi-purpose furnace quenching oil as the cooling medium.

The general operating temperature for quenching oil is 60–80°C, equipped with cooling and stirring devices to prevent the oil from aging easily. During the use of quenching oil, it is essential to strictly adhere to heat treatment process requirements to avoid external contamination. At the same time, the condition of the oil must be monitored, and adjustments should be made promptly. This is a critical measure to ensure the effective use of quenching oil.
